Interesting comments about StumbleUpon

I stumbled an article about StumbleUpon lately.
It got very popular (49 reviews so far).
Many interesting comments, both bad and good.

For example this:
“As with any of these recommendation engines, the more data you have, the better it’ll perform. Since it was bought by eBay in May of last year, StumbleUpon has more than doubled its user base, but the company knows that this growth can only last so long given its major restriction: Right now, the vast majority of people who use StumbleUpon use it through a browser plug-in. This limits the service to either Firefox or Internet Explorer users (who happen to have this plug-in). That is why the team is pushing hard to perfect a web-only version of the site … Alongside adding potentially millions more users with the web-based version, StumbleUpon is finally gearing up to expand its friend limitation. Previously you could only have 200 friends on the service, that will soon be increased to 1,000, Camp told me. StumbleUpon was launched out of Canada in 2002 and didn’t move to the San Francisco Bay Area until 2006. It took a $1.5 millon angel round of funding in 2006 before its purchase by eBay for $75 million.” Via

It’s a good read.
